MARQUETTE, Mich. -

Authorities say someone apparently tried to get illegal drugs into a prison in Michigan's Upper Peninsula by tossing them over a fence to an inmate.

WLUC-TV reports the failed attempt happened Monday night in a wooded area on Marquette Branch Prison property.

State police and the Michigan Department of Corrections say a female tried to throw the drugs over the fence and she was taken into custody along with three males found nearby. They were later set free as the investigation into the attempt continues. Names weren't immediately released.
