Authorities: Kasandra Knapp, 17, dies in snowboarding accident at Boyne Highlands in NW Lower Peninsula
Authorities say a 17-year-old girl has died following a snowboarding accident at Boyne Highlands Resort in Michigan's northwestern Lower Peninsula.
The Petoskey News-Review reports that Kasandra Knapp of Alanson was on a beginner-rated slope Sunday afternoon at Boyne Highlands Resort near Harbor Springs when she fell.

The newspaper says she was treated at the scene and taken to a hospital in Petoskey, where she died.
Knapp was a senior at Inland Lakes High School in Indian River.
Brad Keen is president and general manager of Boyne Highlands Resort, located about 55 miles northeast of Traverse City.
He says officials are saddened by the accident.
