Blow torch bandit arrested for attempting to breaking into Wayne County businesses

Police say a man is in custody after he attempted to break in to an Ecorse business using a blow torch.

Just before 3 a.m. Tuesday, an officer on patrol noticed a car parked next to a business.

Upon closer inspection, the officer could see a man, later identified as Carry Dairy, standing next to the building using a tire iron to pry open one of the doors.

Dairy was ordered to the ground and placed in custody.

Police say Dairy attempted to break into businesses at two separate locations by burning the locks with a torch and prying the doors.

He was unable to gain entry before being discovered by police.
