MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich. -

Three-dozen boats finished the annual sailboat race from Port Huron to Mackinac Island on Monday.

The Bayview Yacht Club said 36 boats have finished either the Cove Island course or the shorter Shore Course by Monday morning.

More than 200 boats are participating in the Bell's Beer Bayview Mackinac Race.

The 86-foot Windquest was the first to finish the Cove Island course, crossing the finish line at 5:31 p.m. Sunday.

Doug and Dick DeVos own the Windquest.

The 32-foot BadFish was the first to finish the Shore Course, crossing the line at 2:08 a.m. Monday.

Race spokesman Mark Steffke said the wind has died down, so the boats still sailing are moving slowly.

The race started Saturday just north of the Blue Water Bridge.

Winners are determined based on a handicapping system.
