Authorities say the bodies of two swimmers have been recovered from a lake in western Wayne County.

Van Buren Township Fire Chief Dan Besson says divers found the bodies of a man and a woman in their 20s Sunday in Belleville Lake. The swimmers were in the lake Saturday with a third person, went under water near a sandbar and never surfaced.

An emergency call was made around 10 p.m. Saturday. Warning signs in that area of the lake say there's deep water with a strong current.

The names of the victims weren't immediately released.
