DETROIT -

We’ll get a much needed break from the heat today. We had three days in a row in the middle 90s and threatened records all week.

Today it’s simply low 80s with a wind shift from the north bringing humidity levels down too. There is a slight chance for a few isolated rain and thundershowers by mid to late afternoon but don’t cancel your plans. Skies will go from partly to mostly cloudy and bring scattered showers by about 3 p.m.

Saturday looks like the pick day of the weekend with mostly sunshine and light winds. Sunday will be mostly dry too in the low 80s for highs, but another cold front will fire thunderstorms by dinner time. That means we’ll salvage a pretty comfortable weekend.
