The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) says the suspension of a Canton doctor's medical license earlier this month because of an alleged fraud conviction was all done by mistake.
Fatima Bint E. Hassan's license was taken away on Sept. 10 after LARA said they had been given information from the United States District Court's Eastern District of Michigan that Hassan had been convicted in May of conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
But a further investigation revealed Hassan shared the same first and last name of another health care professional who was the true defendant and who is not licensed in the state of Michigan. Her license was reinstated on Sept. 21.
