Canton residents will see slight increase to December tax bill

Canton homeowners are bracing for their December tax bill.

The city will be adding a 1 percent administrative fee onto the bill.

Township officials say the fee will help recoup rising costs from property assessments.

The new fee is projected to cost a typical residential taxpayer in Canton about $25 dollars a year.

The fee is state-authorized but, Canton has never imposed the fee until now.

Thirty eight of the 43 Wayne County communities bill for the fee including, Plymouth, Northville and Westland.
