MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. -

Central Michigan University plans to expand its presence in the state with a site in Detroit.

The Mount Pleasant school says its Board of Trustees on Thursday approved plans to rent about 4,000 square feet of space in Detroit.

The school says it will spend no more than $143,000 a year on the lease.

The space will support a Global Campus, enrollment management and student services. There also will be offices and space for classes.
