A bus flipped over onto its side Monday morning after being broadsided by a car near the intersection of Sheldon and Warren Roads in Canton Township just before 11 a.m.

A bus flipped over onto its side Monday morning after being broadsided by a car near the intersection of Sheldon and Warren Roads in Canton Township just before 11 a.m.

Early reports are the car may have run a red light at the intersection and slammed into the side of the Children's Hour bus.

The bus only had a 50-year-old driver on board. Fire department paramedics treated both the driver of the car and the bus and transported them to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor. There is no word on the extent of their injuries.

The police department’s accident investigation is looking into the situation. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the accident.

A bus which services the Children's Hour childcare in Plymouth Township flipped onto its side after being hit by a car near the intersection of Warren and Sheldon roads around 11 a.m. Monday. No children were on the bus.
