Christians across the world observe Good Friday
Christians across the world are observing Good Friday ahead of the Easter celebration.
Good Friday is always recognized on the Friday before Easter. It commemorates the Biblical accounts of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Many Christians pray and attend church services on Good Friday. It is a fast day in the Catholic Church.
In Jerusalem, people lined up as the sun rose at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. It is the church that's believed to be built at the place of Jesus Christ's crucifixion, burial and resurrection. People from around the world participate in the Good Friday processions.
Christians believe that on the third day after Jesus' crucifixion, or Easter Sunday, he rose from the grave.
