Local 4 Director Of Meteorology

Although the weather always changes in Detroit, the man who gives you the forecasts on Local 4 remains the same. The familiar face of Chuck Gaidica brings you the latest Local4Casters info every weekday at 4, 5, 6 and 11 p.m. on Local 4 News.

Chuck's worked as Director of Meteorology at WDIV since 1987. He's been voted the top weathercast in town year after year in the "Metro Times - Best of Detroit" edition. Hour Detroit Magazine has awarded Chuck "Best Local Weather Forecaster" in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2011.

A two-time Emmy Award winner, Chuck says that doing the weather on NBC's "Today Show" ranks as Chuck's proudest professional accomplishments. Chuck is also proud of his inventions -- including the always popular "Cuddle Alert!"

Chuck considers himself an optimistic environmentalist and a bit of an adventurer. He has flown through the eye of a hurricane, chased and caught tornadoes, flown with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels and brought WDIV viewers live reports from the Amazon in Peru and Mt. Kilauea in Hawaii.

You'll have to look way up or way down to find Chuck when he's not working. He is an instrument-rated pilot and certified scuba diver. He also enjoys jogging, reading and animals.

Chuck recently helped launch a professional theatre in downtown Northville. Tipping Point Theatre will provide jobs to union actors, stage managers, and many more. Chuck and his family attend Oakpointe Church in Novi. www.oakpointe.org

Chuck attended William Tyndale College and graduated with honors. Chuck is currently pursuing a Master of Arts degree. William Tyndale College.

Chuck and his wife, Susan, have five children. Their brood also includes three dogs, two Siberian huskies and a Whoodle.
