DETROIT -

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of the hit-and-run-driver who killed a Washington Township mother.

Family of Sandra Lee Loepp made tearful pleas Friday during a press conference with Crime Stoppers to find the driver that killed the 37-year-old mother on Dec. 16.

Loepp's body was discovered by a passerby near Van Dyke and 28 Mile Road.

Police said Loepp died after she was struck and dragged an eighth of a mile.

Police said her body had to have been removed from the underside of the vehicle before the driver fled the scene.

"It's not fair to us to have to bury our sister," said Kelly Smalley.

Loepp was from a large family that included seven siblings.

"He had to tell me that my sister was dead. That she was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Not just a hit-and-run driver but someone who dragged her more than 600 feet, pulled into a parking lot, removed her from underneath their car and left her laying there in the cold, dark rain. Not calling for help, not doing anything for her, just leaving her there like she was an animal. She wasn't an animal she was our sister," said Kristy Bottle, as she choked back tears during the press conference.

Police say if a helpful tip is received by midnight Friday, the reward will increase by $1,000.

It was initially unclear what had happened to Loepp when her body was found.

An autopsy later confirmed her injuries were consistent with being struck and dragged.

Loepp and her husband drove to Santino’s Bar on Van Dyke earlier in day to join friends on a party bus and to have dinner.

Police say Loepp walked home from the bar around 1 a.m. on Sunday when she was hit.
