DETROIT – A exhibit by an old master is proving to bea crowd-pleaser at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Attendance at the exhibit, "Rembrandt and the Face of Jesus," has broken recent records at the museum. More than 15,000 visitors saw the exhibit during the week between Christmas and New Year -that's about three times the typical weekly attendance for the exhibit.

"The response has been overwhelming," said Graham W. J.Beal, DIA director. "Much of the positive feedback we have received focuses on how the exhibition is presented, which places Rembrandt and the works of art in historical and cultural context."
The exhibit remains at the DIA through Feb. 12.
This Sunday, the museum is offering a special half-off ticket price. General admission is free that day, but if you want to see the exhibit adults will pay$8 and children 6-17 willpay $4. That same day, Shelley Perlove will give a free talk at 2 p.m. about "Rembrandt's Great Challenge Visualizing Jesus."
The museum and exhibition will also be open from10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 16. A $6-off coupon is available at www.dia.org through Jan. 16. This cannot be used with other specials, such as the half-off Jan. 8 ticket price. It also does not apply to group sales.
Museum hours are 10 a.m.-4p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays,10 a.m.-10 p.m. Fridays, and10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4for ages 6-17, and free for DIA members. For membership information, call 313-833-7971.
