Detroit Girl With Cancer Gets Special Ride

DETROIT – A 10-year-old Detroit girl with brain cancer got a surprise visit this weekend at her home from a special animal.

Ananda Bell was diagnosed in October after suffering dizzy spells. The illness has forced her to a wheelchair. But a "horsey house call" on Saturday from volunteers with Camp Casey gave her a spirit-lifting ride.

Camp Casey is a nonprofit horseback riding program for children with cancer. Camp Casey provides Cowboy Camp Outs, Horsey House Calls and Outlaw Outings cost-free to families facing a pediatric cancer diagnosis.

Volunteers and a horse named Mo saddled up outside Bell's home near Seven Mile Road and Livernois. Bell rode Mo down her street and also celebrated with some art activities and pizza.

The charity was also given a $1,060 check from Community Financial. Community Financial is giving away donations to charities every week through September. Charities can be nominated to get the Summer of Sharing donations at http://summerofsharing.org.

Anyone interested in donated to Bell can do so at any Charter One Bank under the "Benefit of Diamond Bell."
