A Detroit Police officer is listed in serious condition after being hit by a car early Saturday morning.
The officer was investigating the scene of a critical pedestrian accident on Livernois and Pelouze St., police said.
Police were investigating an accident involving a woman walking across the street when she was struck by a car.
While the officer was talking to a dispatcher, a red Ford Taurus hit him and drove off.
The suspect left his Taurus, which Dearborn Police found unoccupied.
Dearborn Police helped Detroit police track down the suspect with a K-9 unit.
Police arrested a 25-year-old white man from Dearborn Heights at Central St. and Michigan Ave. He was intoxicated, according to police.
The 25-year-old will face DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident charges.
The police officer is listed in serious condition at Receiving Hospital with fractures to his face, he is expected to be okay, police said.
