Detroit Public School performing arts students are heading to New York City Thursday night for a once in a lifetime opportunity.
The Motown Museum, along with the Gordy Foundation, will send 24 students from Cass Technical High School and the Detroit School of Arts to Broadway for a production of Motown: The Musical.
The trip is developed to teach local students about the rich history of their hometown in celebration of the musical opening on Broadway.
Robin R. Terry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Motown Museum says, "The musical brings this legendary story to life through song and dance and the Museum is the physical space where history was born and continues to be preserved. With the students experiencing both, our goal is that they have a greater sense of their own talents and dreams and are inspired to achieve them."
The students will board their bus to New York City Thursday night outside the Motown Museum.
