DETROIT -

A new website allows Detroit Public Schools graduates to interact with former classmates and reconnect with teachers and district staff.

The site, www.dpsalumni.org , is part of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation's Alumni Giving and Development Program.

It features live chat posts and photo and video sharing. Prominent alumni will be featured in videos urging other graduates to support the district.

The district says the goal is to invite alumni to "virtually come home" and share their stories online to inspire current and future students.

Foundation president Glenda Price says the website is a platform to "simply reminisce with old friends, to say thank you to the educators and staff members who helped them to reach their career goals."

The website features individual pages for current and former district schools.
