ROYAL OAK, Mich. – A new version of the Detroit Zoo Smartphone application makes it even easier for visitors to track their location in the Zoo with an interactive map, learn more about their favorite Zoo animals with enhanced graphics and updated information and access a monthly calendar of events. The new-and-improved app is available for the iPhone and Android.

The Detroit Zoo?s application updates include:
A restructured GPS-enabled map displaying a visitor?s location in the Zoo using real-time coordinates. The ?Near Me? feature provides visitors with their proximity to animal habitats and Zoo amenities from their current location.
A revamped ?My Schedule? feature with a monthly calendar of Zoo activities such as animal feedings, zookeeper talks and special events.
An enhanced ?Animals? section with high-quality photos and biographies on many of the Zoo?s residents.
Easy access to important information and features without using excessive amounts of data.
A modified layout of the interface to make the application run more efficiently and provide easier and quicker transitions from page to page.
The app also provides easy access to Facebook and Twitter so visitors can share their Detroit Zoo experience and photos with friends instantaneously, up-to-the-second messages sent directly to visitors? Smartphones to keep them informed of parking and traffic updates, and the ability to purchase tickets and memberships and make a donation to the Zoo directly from their phones.
