A jury found two men guilty of forcing two women into the trunk of a car outside their Hamtramck home before torturing and murdering them.
Cousins Reginald Brown and Jeremy Brown were found guilty of first-degree murder, torture and unlawful imprisonment. They will be sentenced December 21st. A jury is still deliberating the case against Brandon Cain and Brian Lee. A fifth defendant, 24-year-old Miguel Rodriguez pleaded guilty to second degree murder. He will be sentenced December 14.
The case involves the February deaths of 18-year-old Abreeya Brown and 22-year-old Ashley Conaway. Authorities say Brown and Conaway were forced into a car trunk at gunpoint outside their home in Hamtramck.
Family members say the received a text message from one of the girls saying they were in the trunk and they indicated who was abducting them.
Their bodies were later discovered in a Detroit park.
Tristin Cash testified he drove some of the men charged to the Kmart at Seven Mile and Telegraph to buy shovels and a gas can.
The shovels were used to bury the two women in a shallow grave in a secluded area on Detroit’s west side.
