Detroit family given gift of new home for Christmas
AT&T, author Mitch Albom and Detroit Rescue Mission provide fully stocked home
A Detroit family has been given the gift of a lifetime.
AT&T, author Mitch Albom and the Detroit Rescue Mission surprised Wendi Palmer, her two young sons and her mother Karen Harris on Thursday with a new home.
The family is currently homeless and staying with relatives as Palmer battles the effects of Multiple Sclerosis.
The home is fully furnished with a stocked refrigerator.
Organizers say all major repairs have been completed on the home, which is waiting for its new owners to move in.
This marks the second consecutive year that AT&T has partnered with Albom and the Detroit Rescue Mission to provide shelter for families in need.
