DETROIT -

A Detroit family managed to escape flames that ripped through their Detroit home early Friday morning.

A mom and her three kids were inside the house, which is in the 5000 block of Nottingham, when the fire started just before 4 a.m.

A neighbor saw the fire and immediately called firefighters.

Before emergency crews arrived, the neighbor burst into the home and helped bring the family to safety.

Although a cause has not been identified, investigators believe the fire started in the second floor of the house.
