DETROIT -

Detroit firefighters say they're getting donations of toilet paper, paper towels and cleaning supplies following reports about shortages of the items at city firehouses.

The department says a temporary lag caused by a change in purchasing caused a dip in station stockpiles, but supply levels were near normal levels at most stations.

Dan McNamara from the Detroit Fire Fighter Association has asked that the public make donations via the Detroit Public Safety Foundation at www.detroitpublicsafetyfoundation.org.
