A local high school's marching band is getting a trip of a lifetime.
Detroit's Martin Luther King Jr. High School's marching band is on their way to London to perform during the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The district says the band raised about $270,000 for the trip overseas.
About 50 band members and adult chaperones will leave the school Saturday for a late night flight. Band members also traveled in 2008 to perform in a music festival during the Beijing Summer Olympics.
