Raid Gabriel has owned his west Detroit convenience store for just more than 5 years.
In that time, Gabriel says, the store has been broken into and robbed on 15 different occasions.
"It's very frustrating," he said.
The thieves have been smashing through brick walls to get inside of Gabriel's store. He has filled patches in the wall only to find himself filling another hole in the wall months later.
Perhaps the most astonishing thing about the robberies is that Gabriel says he knows who is behind the break-ins.
"Oh, I know who they are. I know who they are," he said.
However, Gabriel says he is having a difficult time getting Detroit police to respond to his reports.
"Matter of fact, I waited outside and a police car passed by, and they don't even stop," the store owner said. "So, I don't know what to do anymore."
Gabriel even has surveillance video of the criminals in action. One video, from May 23, shows two men who Gabriel says robbed the store before. On Wednesday, those same two faces were caught on Gabriel's surveillance, breaking into his store, again.
"And they know. They take their time. Matter of fact, one of them was with a flashlight reading the description of the item and putting it back, and I was like, 'Wow,' you know. It's unbelievable," Gabriel said.
His business has suffered thousands of dollars in damages and lost inventory. He fears if the break-ins continue he will lose the store.
"I need some answers. When is this going to stop? I don't know."
He plans to reach out to police again. He hopes this time they will investigate and do what they can to put to the thieves behind bars.
Police told Local 4 they plan to look into Gabriel's case.
