On Thursday Detroit radio legend Dick Purtan shaved the moustache he's had since 1970.

It was part of a challenge which began during the Salvation Army's Bed & Bread Club radiothon.

Purtan promised to shave his 'stache if listeners raised $100,000.

The Bed & Bread Program serves nearly 5,000 meals to the hungry each day.
