Turning Point domestic violence shelter organized a candlelight vigil Saturday in remembrance of Tara Grant and in support of families and a community that are grieving.

"There is nothing more we can do with the enormous grief that the families and community is feeling besides share it", stated Sue Coats, CEO of Turning Point.

The vigil was held at Stoney Creek Metro Park on Saturday.

Family and friends gathered to speak, pray and honor her memory.

Tara's mother Mary and her father Dusty attended the vigil.

The vigil was to honor Tara's memory and to also raise awareness on domestic violence.

This was the second scheduled vigil in Tara's memory.

More than 200 people gathered Thursday night in the Grant's Washington Township community to pay tribute to Tara Grant.

Neighbors and friends walked and drove to the home on Westridge Street to light a candle and say a prayer.

Tara's sister and mother attended the vigil.

"There were probably about a half a dozen people who came up to me as we were shopping at Kohl's this afternoon. One lady even came up to me and said, 'You're probably tired of people coming up to you. ' And I said, no, I am not," said Alicia Standerfer, Tara's sister.

Nothing was said about Stephen Grant, but there were words about domestic violence.

"If it can happen to Tara Grant in a matter like this, mark my words, it can happen to anyone," said Erik Standerfer, Tara's brother-in-law.
