TROY, Mich. -

Police say a 42-year-old man from Troy hit two cars then fall asleep in a parking lot on Wednesday.

A Troy officer was dispatched to Rochester and E. South Boulevard after 8 p.m. Wednesday after a report of a hit and run, non-injury accident.

A driver, whose vehicle had been struck by the man, told police that a car had hit his vehicle twice, then drove over the grass and left the scene.

Authorities said the driver followed the man, saw his car pull into a parking lot and struck a second vehicle. The car kept going afterwards.

The driver told police he watched as the man parked his car in the same parking lot, where the second accident occurred, and fell asleep.

The officer arrived on the scene and after speaking with both of the drivers whose vehicles had been struck, the officer knocked on the window of the at-fault vehicle and woke up the man.

Police said the 42-year-old man's speech was extremely slurred. A nearly empty fifth of vodka was found in the front passenger seat of his car, said police. The man's breath test results were .31 percent, nearly four times the legal limit.

The Troy resident was arrested for operating while intoxicated, failure to stop at an accident and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.
