A Michigan election board is scheduled to certify election results that will formally remove from office a Republican legislator who was recalled in a union-backed campaign.
The Board of State Canvassers is set to meet Friday afternoon to certify Nov. 8 election results.
Genesee County election results show that voters decided to recall Rep. Paul Scott of Grand Blanc by a 232-vote margin out of 24,484 votes cast.
Michigan House Republicans say they aren't going to challenge the election results and will focus on the election to replace Scott, scheduled for Feb. 28.
Political parties have about two weeks to nominate candidates. Scott is ineligible to run.
Scott was targeted for recall by the Michigan Education Association because of his education policy and state budget votes.
