Excessive Heat Watch for Detroit area

Dangerous heat and humidity remain for days

DETROIT – An Excessive Heat Watch is in effect for Detroit and most of Southeast Michigan from Tuesday afternoon through Friday.  Daytime highs reach the low and middle 90s with heat indicies over 100 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  Detroiters must remain cool and prevent over-exertion for the rest of the week.

In addition, a warm front will spark showers and thunderstorms Tuesday.  They will be hit and miss and not provide much needed relief.  Some areas could see lightning, gusty winds and hail.  The same chance of storm activity remains for Wednesday, the 4th of July, too.
