Farmington Hills police concerned over 'Project M'

Teen's invite to house party goes viral, but it's later canceled

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Police cars were positioned Friday outside a home in foreclosure on Briarwyke Drive in Farmington Hills after the explosion of an Internet invitation.

A high school senior named Mikey sent out a Twitter message that said he was hosting a party at the house Friday night, inspired by the new movie "Project X," where a teen is left home alone and throws a wild, destructive party.

The message included the home's address and burned up Twitter to the point of one new message each second.

By the time Mikey went on local radio stations to talk about the trend he set on Twitter, kids and adults started showing up at the home.

One 26-year-old from Royal Oak says he saw the Tweets, heard Mikey on the radio and was knocking on the door at 9 a.m.

"I'm ready to party," he said.

Ten police squad cars then rushed to the home on a report that people were trying to get inside.

Mikey's father, Goran Vasovski, arrived at the home at 11 a.m. and met with police to make sure the home was secure. He also wants to get the word out that the party has been canceled.

"They want to know if I'm going to ground him, beat him. I'm going to talk to him and make sure he understands what the Internet can do," Vasovski said.

One of Mikey's co-party planners says what started out as a small going away party for a friend quickly turned in world-wide trending topic on Twitter and they expected 2,000 people to descend on the home, which appears somewhat vacant and that they knew they had access to.

"We're going to pull this off anyway we can," he told Local 4 at 10 a.m.

By 11 a.m., he said the party was officially canceled and they're amazed how quickly word spread.

Teens at the home and Vasovski said they've heard from teens from Ohio, New York and Arizona who were vowing to make the trip for the party to end all parties.

The Farmington Hill's police chief is not happy and said he's using valuable resources to make sure no one gains access to the home and try to stop the stream of traffic of kids coming by to see the house.
