Police in Farmington Hills were searching Monday for a suspected armed robber in the area of 10 Mile Road and Springbrook Drive, between Orchard Lake and Middlebelt roads.

Police say the suspect attempted to break into a home in the 23000 block of Cora Street. The Farmington Hills police chief is asking residents to remain vigilant as the search continues. Anyone with information is asked to call the Farmington Hills Police Department at 248-871-2600.

Police tell Local 4 a woman was returning to her home when she found a man with a gun inside her garage. That man was arrested after fleeing the home. The woman had called police and officers were able to take him and his gun into custody.

Police were searching for a second suspect.

They described the suspect as a black man about 20 years old, standing 6 feet tall with a medium build and wearing a black T-shirt and black pants.
