Ty Morin, a photographer from Connecticut, is looking for investors for an unusual project.
Morin wants to track down every one of his Facebook friends and take their picture. It will take a while, Morin has 788 friends.
The Proposal seeking funds on the crowd funding website Kickstarter.com says Morin hopes to “capture everyone doing something they are passionate about, while filming the whole process.”
Interestingly, Morin doesn’t even know half of his FB friends.
“While planning this project, people kept telling me to make it easier on myself and make a friend cut. Chances are, at least half of those 788 people, I've never even spoken to. However, don't you think cutting out all those friends would defeat the purpose of this project? The goal of this project is to reconnect with people. No more hiding behind the screen of social media. Stop looking down at your phone and pretending you're texting your BFF when you walk by an old friend from high school. Let’s get out there and remind people what it's like to have a face to face conversation with someone.”
Morin estimates it will take about $5,000 to complete his project. He already has about $12,500 in pledges.
