Financial board approves cuts to city workers' pay

Workers face 10% pay decrease

DETROIT – Detroit's financial advisory board approved Mayor Dave Bing's plan for cuts. Mayor Bing's plan included $100 million in cuts to the city's unionized workforce. This plan includes a 10% pay decrease, higher costs for healthcare and limits on the amount of overtime. Mayor Bing's administration expects to impose these changes without negotiations.

The plan was released Thursday at a meeting with the financial advisory board.
