ROCHESTER, Mich. -

A funeral will be held Wednesday for a Michigan State University student who was fatally stabbed over the weekend at an apartment complex near campus.

Andrew Singler is to be remembered at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Rochester, the area where he grew up. Visitation for the 23-year-old is Tuesday at Pixley Funeral Home, also in Rochester.

Police in Ingham County's Meridian Township say Singler was stabbed around 4 a.m. Saturday and died shortly after his roommate brought him to the emergency room at Lansing's Sparrow Hospital.

A suspect, Connor McCowan, has been arrested in the case and is expected to be arraigned as early as Monday.

Family members say Singler knew his killer.

They describe Singler as a kind, humorous young man who planned to become a pediatric dentist.
