A 4-year-old boy's grandmother has been charged in connection with his death.
De'Angelo Alkas-Mikha was pronounced dead Monday morning after being found in a bathtub that was filled a couple of inches with water.
Sources told Local 4 that the boy's grandmother, Terry Borgia, picked him up while he was sleeping, put him into the bathtub and held him there until he drowned.
Borgia, 60, was arraigned on Wednesday during a very emotional court hearing.
Borgia was charged with first-degree murder.
"We had interviewed the grandmother and some of her answers weren't real consistent with what should have been reported," said Clinton Township Police Chief Fred Posavetz. "That led us to believe that she may have been involved with the death of the young boy."
Family members said they would never think Borgia would hurt the boy.
"Nothing like that. She would never do anything to him or anything like that," said the boy's aunt Lina Major.
It happened at an apartment located at 19 Mile and Hayes roads in Clinton Township.
Family members said the Alkas-Mihka, who has two siblings, was the only child at the home.
"Justice will be served to him because no one deserves to die like this. No kid in this world would deserve to die like this at all," said Major.
She was denied bond and will remain in custody.
Borgia is expected to be back in court in two weeks.
