GROSSE POINTE, Mich. -

A Grosse Pointe South choir teacher could be without a job soon.

Ellen Bowen faces termination after the Grosse Pointe Public School System issued a press release announcing plans to get rid of her on Monday.

The district is currently preparing written charges to be filed with the board of education and once completed a public meeting will be held to proceed on the charges.

Bowen has been accused of more than one inappropriate display of her temper. The most recent, hitting a student on the head with a cell phone. The family called police but they later decided not to press charges.

The choir teacher is entitled to a hearing and depending on the ruling, the right to an appeal.
