A shooting at a New Year's Eve fireworks show in Sacramento, California, where thousands had gathered killed two people and wounded at three others, police said.

The shooting occurred in Old Sacramento on Monday night.

Some 40,000 people, including families with young children, had gathered for the 9 p.m. fireworks show.

Police said that a fight in a sports bar spilled outside.

The police spokesman did not know if any suspects were in custody.
