West Michigan snowfall factor in Ionia school bus crash; student suffers minor injuries
Authorities believe heavy snowfall is a factor in a West Michigan school bus crash that injured one student.
Sheriff's officials say an Ionia Public Schools bus was unable to negotiate a curve Thursday afternoon in Ionia County's Easton Township, ran off the road and rolled onto its side.
The driver and five students were on the bus. One student suffered minor injuries.
The accident occurred as a winter storm began sweeping east across the state. The National Weather Service forecasts up to a foot of snow in parts of Michigan.
Six to 12 inches of snow could accumulate north of Interstate 96 in the Grand Rapids area. Some spots could get more than a foot. In the northern Lower Peninsula, 6 to 10 inches could fall.
