Hundreds Play Dodgeball Game At Detroit Park
Group Hopes To Make New World Record
Hundreds of people have participated in a dodgeball game that organizers hope will land Detroit a world record.
"Dodgeball in the D" was held Saturday at Belle Isle park northeast of downtown.
Sponsors and founders of the event wanted to draw 5,000 people. Final numbers were not available Saturday.
According to the Guinness World Records website, the current mark of 2,136 was set earlier this year in Rochester, N.Y.
Organizers plan to document the game and submit the attempt to Guinness auditors for world-record consideration.
In addition to the game, "Dodgeball in the D" featured other free activities, including the Detroit Red Wings fan experience, the Henry Ford Health System career experience and an appearance by NHRA Funny Car racer Brian Olatunji.
