Injured veteran gets new home in Macomb Township
Operation Finally Home helps injured Sgt. Davin Dumar become homeowner
Sgt. Davin Dumar and his wife Dana walked into their brand new house for the very first time this week.
The couple had been living this past year and 1/2 at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
"This is definitely an upgrade. Closer to family. My dad is 5 minutes away. Her parents are 2 minutes away," Dumar said.
Dumar lost his leg and damaged both of his hands when an IED exploded while he was serving in Afghanistan.
Enter Operation Finally Home.
"Our company is a non profit that builds mortgage-free homes for wounded warriors and their families," said Stephan Page, of Operation Finally Home.
Operation Finally Home contacted Pulte Homes of Michigan who then contacted their vendors.
"Over 20 trade partners donated, in varying degrees, but everyone came together to make this possible for the Dumars," said Brandon Jones, of Pulte Group.
The lot is worth about $60,000 and $200,000 or more was spent for materials and labor. Now, this hero can finally call this his home.
"I don't know what to say. It's so overwhelming. I can't believe I am a homeowner," said Dumar.
