Joe Gentz's preliminary hearing on murder charge adjourned for today

Handyman accused of killing Grosse Pointe Park mother in January

DETROIT – The man charged with murdering Grosse Pointe Park mother Jane Bashara won't be returning to court Monday for his preliminary hearing.

Joe Gentz's attorney, Susan Reed, was granted an adjournment. A new hearing date wasn't immediately set.

Gentz is facing a first-degree murder charge.

Meanwhile, Jane's husband, Bob, is charged with plotting to have Gentz killed.

Police investigators and prosecutors say Bashara tried to hire a hitman to kill Gentz in jail.

Grosse Pointe Park mother found dead in January

Jane Bashara was found dead in the back of her SUV in a Detroit alley on Jan. 25. She had been reported missing the night before.

Sources say Joe Gentz was forced to kill the Grosse Pointe Park mother under the order of her husband.

Gentz is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Bob Bashara has not been charged.
