Jurors who are deliberating in the trial of a 75-year-old woman who shot and killed her teenage grandson asked to re-watch her testimony from the stand.
Jurors begin their first full day of deliberations in the Sandra Layne trial Tuesday. They were given a computer so they could listen again to critical 911 calls and also the five-hour courtroom video recording of Layne's testimony.
The jury must decide whether to convict Layne of first-degree murder or a lesser charge, or acquit her on the basis of self-defense.
The jury is made up of 7 women and 5 men.
Prosecutor Paul Walton says there was nothing defensive about Layne's treatment of 17-year-old Jonathan Hoffman, who was shot six times last May at their home in West Bloomfield Township.
Walton says Layne didn't flee her home or call 911 to seek help for Hoffman after he was shot.
Layne's attorney says she feared her grandson and felt overwhelmed by his drug use and choice of friends.
