Jury selection will being Monday in the trial for two people charged with the killing of an 80-year-old Royal Oak woman.
The suspects, Alan Wood and Tonia Watson, were arrested days after Dailey's death in Canton Township trying to use of Dailey's bank cards.
Wood is charged with first-degree murder in the case.
Watson took a plea deal on a lesser charge of second-degree murder in exchange for testifying against Wood.
The two face other charges for stealing and using Dailey's bank information.
Suspects accused of breaking in, attacking woman
“Watson stated that Wood threw Nancy Dailey down to the floor and began punching, stomping and kicking her,” said Royal Oak Detective Carl Barretto. “Watson then stated that Wood then also attempted to break Dailey’s neck. Watson stated that Wood pulled out and unfolded his knife and told her, ‘You know what I have to do.’”
Investigators said the couple had been hired by Dailey to do work around her house just days before her killing.
