Lightning strikes catch 3 homes on fire in Macomb Township

Fires quickly put out in area of 23 Mile, Card roads

MACOMB TOWNSHIP, Mich. – At least three homes in Macomb Township were struck by lighting Tuesday as storms rolled through the area.

Fires broke out on Chetlenham Drive, Blue Jay and Shenandoah Drive – all in the area of 23 Mile and Card roads.

The strikes prompted fires that were all quickly put out. No serious injuries were reported.

A 69-year-old man is being credited with help save two people who were inside the home on Shenandoah when it caught fire. He raced inside to wake the two up so they could escape. The man suffered some smoke inhalation-related issues, but will be OK.

The fires were put out with the help of fire departments from Shelby Township, Chesterfield Township and Clinton Township.
