Livonia water tower leaks, floods nearby yards
Top of water tower seen leaking Tuesday morning
Water has stopped spewing out of a million-gallon water tower in Livonia.
Sky 4 was over the scene Tuesday as water seeped into nearby yards in the area of West Chicago near Middlebelt Road.
A spokesperson for the Livonia Department of Public Works told Local 4 the tank is owned by the Detroit Water and Sewage Department.
Local 4 has learned an intake valve in the tower was stuck in the open position. Repairs to the valve were completed just before 3 p.m. and water stopped leaking from the tower.
The tank is part of the area's water distribution system.
