DETROIT -

A man accused of ambushing an elderly Detroit couple in their driveway and then holding them captive inside their home is expected to be in court for a hearing Tuesday.

On the night of Nov. 28, 2012, a concerned neighbor called 911 for police assistance after seeing an armed man force an 87-year-old woman into her home in the 16200 block of Mendota.

Detroit police responded and found the woman, who stated that everything was alright. But police knew something wasn't right.

When more police arrived, 27-year-old Anthony Evan barricaded himself inside the residence.

He eventually surrendered to police after several hours.

Police found a weapon in the house.

The woman and her 85-year-old husband were not hurt.

Evan is charged with:

  • 2 counts of armed robbery
  • Home invasion - first degree
  • Unlawful imprisonment
  • Felon in possession of a firearm
  • Weapons-felon firearm - second offense
  • Habitual offender - second offense
