A man has been charged with premeditated 1st degree murder in the strangulation death and dismemberment of his girlfriend in Farmington.
William Michael Dhondt, of Novi, appeared by video Tuesday in District Court in Berkley for an arraignment in the death of 29-year-old Kaitlin Elizabeth Hehir. The judge ordered no bond for Dhondt. He is scheduled to be back in court March 5.
Investigators say 28-year-old Dhondt told them Hehir was killed after a domestic dispute turned violent. Police say he reported her missing Saturday night.
Her remains were found Sunday at their home on Colchester and the man was taken into custody.
Police say Hehir worked for 4 1/2 years at 47th District Court, where such a hearing for a case in Farmington usually would take place.
Dhondt appeared in court via video.
