A 20-year-old man is facing charges for stabbing and biting his roommate during a brutal attack in their apartment, Royal Oak police say.
Police said a neighbor at the Beverly Hills Apartments reported hearing glass break at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
When officers got there, they found a broken window and could see two men in a tussle inside, police said.
One of the men, 20-year-old Brent Michael Smetana, grabbed a shard of glass and said he was going kill the other man, police said.
Police used a Taser to quell Smetana and he was arrested.
The 61-year-old victim was taken to Beaumont Hospital. Police said he had been beaten, stabbed and bitten by Smetana.
Police said Smetana, a Berkley resident, and the victim had known each other for more than a year but that Smetana had just moved in with the victim a week ago.
