DETROIT -

A man has died after being stabbed Wednesday night on a Detroit bus.

Police said the incident happened just before 11 p.m. after the bus picked up passengers at Woodward Avenue and John R. One passenger became agitated that another was standing too close to him and pulled out a knife -- attacking the man.

The accused stabber fled the scene but was found a short time later hiding behind a building on John R.

The victim was taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital, but later died.

Police haven't released any more information on the suspect or victim.

Earlier this year, DDOT bus drivers walked off the job for hours after a driver was attacked.

Bus driver union president Henry Gaffney, of AFL-CIO Local 26, said this latest stabbing incident of a passenger is sparking more conversation about the city hiring police officers for their buses.
